Family & Personal Protection Dogs in Scotland
A protection dog that is, first and foremost, a beloved family member. Stable, obedient and completely safe around your children — with the training, structure and discernment to protect you when it matters. Available across Scotland.
A family dog first
Protection that lives in your home
A genuine family protection dog is not a working animal that happens to live in your house. They are a family member — one your children run to, who settles on the sofa in the evening, and who happens to have the temperament, training and clarity to protect you if the day ever comes when you need it.
Everything about the way we produce these dogs starts from that principle. If a dog isn't right around a family, they don't become a family protection dog. Full stop.
What sets these dogs apart
The pillars of a real family protection dog
Family-Safe Temperament
Warm, tolerant and completely reliable with children and visitors — the family dog first, the protection dog second.
Obedience Under Pressure
Rock-solid obedience that holds up in the real world, not just in the training field.
Discernment
A dog that can tell the difference between a friend at the door and a genuine threat — and responds accordingly.
Controllable Protection
Protective when needed, and instantly off when told. Never a liability, always an asset.
Health & Structure
Sound, healthy dogs bred and selected for the work — protection is physically demanding and the dog has to be built for it.
Ongoing Support
Handover is not the end of the relationship. You are supported so the dog stays as sharp — and as safe — as the day they arrived.
Scott Blair
IGP, personal protection and Crufts pedigree
Producing a dog that is exceptional at high-level work and exceptional with your family is difficult. It takes an understanding of drive, structure and temperament that comes from years of hands-on experience with the most demanding disciplines.
Scott's background covers IGP and personal protection training, alongside Best Puppy in Breed at Crufts 2020 and 1st Post Graduate Dog & Reserve CC at Crufts 2022. That combination — protection-sport rigour and Crufts-level pedigree — is exactly what a true family protection dog requires.
How it works
A considered, personal process
Every family and every situation is different, and we take time to understand yours before recommending a route. That might mean training a suitable dog you already own, or sourcing and training the right dog from the ground up.
From selection through foundation obedience, protection work and family integration, each stage is done properly — and the handover is only the beginning of an ongoing relationship. You are supported so the dog stays as sharp and as safe as the day they arrived.

Common questions
Family protection dog FAQs
Are family protection dogs safe around children?+
Yes. A properly trained family protection dog is stable, obedient and completely safe with the family — including children. Temperament and safety come first at every stage; a dog that isn't right around a family isn't a family protection dog.
Are protection dogs legal in the UK?+
Yes, when properly trained and handled responsibly. A well-trained protection dog is controllable, discerning and answerable to their handler at all times — the opposite of an unpredictable dog.
Do you train my own dog or provide a trained dog?+
Both options can be discussed depending on your needs, your dog and your household. In some cases an existing family dog is a great candidate; in others, sourcing and training the right dog from scratch is the better route.
What areas do you cover for protection dogs?+
Family and personal protection dogs are offered across Scotland. Please get in touch to discuss your location and requirements.
